So lately, some of you are probably thinking, 'How do I get shaders? Nothing is working!' For some of you who don't know it is called the Shader's mod. Some of you want to get them, but don't know where to find them. And mostly mac users can't find that way. I will be providing info for BOTH how to get shaders for the PC or Mac (some copied and pasted)!
I want to say, as additional info, that I am not responsible for any crashes or virus that you may contract, or if it's too laggy. I didn't even make the mod, so any serious problems could not possible be my fault. But there is a 90% of no viruses, so it would be rare for a virus/other serious problem. Also, 90% of these instructions are not my own thoughts, it's karyonix's thoughts, I am not meaning to steal his work. I would not recommend people that are 8 years or younger to try this, you would probably mess up, or it could be too young for you young guys, but you can if you want(not trying to stereotype you XD)
Here is karyonix's thread about what you have to do to get the GLSL Shaders mod (MUST HAVE BEFORE GETTING ANY OTHER SHADERPACKS!!!):http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1544257-172shaders-mod-v239-updated-by-karyonix/
Sonic Ether's shader mod (get karyonix's GLSL shader mod first):http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/940974-172sonic-ethers-unbelievable-shaders-and-glsl-shaders-mod/
Here is how to install GLSL Shaders:
- Install Forge or FML
-- Download Minecraft Forge or FML installer
-- Open Minecraft Launcher.
-- Select a profile (lower left corner of launcher window).
-- Edit Profile. Select Minecraft version that is compatible with Forge and ShadersMod (1.6.4 or 1.7.2) and save.
-- Click play. Wait for Minecraft to load.
-- After the game start successfully, close Minecraft. Close launcher if it is still open.
-- Install Minecraft Forge or FML with the downloaded installer.
-- Open Minecraft Launcher.
Select Forge or FML in profile box at lower left corner of launcher window.
Or select other profile and click Edit Profile and select Forge or FML version and save.
-- Click Play.
-- You should see 'Mods' button in title screen below 'Multiplayer' button.
- Check whether everything is alright and close Minecraft.
Install
- Copy ShadersModCore-....jar to %appdata%.minecraftmods folder.
Make sure its file extension is '.jar', not '.zip'.
- If you want to install other FML mods or Forge mods, copy them to the same mods folder.
How to run it:
- Use Mojang's Minecraft Launcher to run Minecraft with Forge profile.
(Don't worry if ShadersMod is not shown in mod list screen)
- Open Option menu, Shaders... button. Click open shaderpacks folder.
- Put some shaderpacks in the folder.
- In Shaders screen click shaderpack name.
Now that you have that, let's get to the different shader packs.
These are instructions for getting ANY shaderpack, such as Sonic Ether's, RudoPlays, etc. (Also no need to create more than one shaderpack folder, lol.)
1. Navigate to your .minecraft folder (google is your friend if you don't know how to do this).
2. Create a new folder called shaderpacks (without capital letters).
3. Place the shaderpacks you wish to use in this directory.
4. Valid shaderpacks include .fsh and .vsh files that the Shaders Mod reads to tell your GPU what to do during runtime. These files must be in a folder named shaders within any shaderpack. Shaderpacks may either be uncompressed folders or .zip files.
If this layout is not respected, your installed shaderpacks will not work. This is the first thing you should check if your game looks like vanilla Minecraft.
5. In Minecraft, go to Options > Shaders. Here you will see a list of your currently installed shaderpacks. Select a shaderpack by clicking on it.
6. In Options > Shaders, enable 'New block breaking', disable 'Cloud Shadow', and set 'Tex Min' to 'Nearest-Nearest' for mipmapping.
I hope this thread helped you on getting shaders, if it is laggy, try other shaders, or turn down some stuff in your setting (render distance, particles, smooth lighting, etc.) Here is sonic ether's thread for more info:http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/940974-172sonic-ethers-unbelievable-shaders-and-glsl-shaders-mod/

Shaders Mod adds shaders support to Minecraft and adds multiple draw buffers, shadow map, normal map, specular map. Shaders Mods offers the best shaders for Minecraft and regularly updated. We also offer users a huge list of the best and popular mods for Minecraft. Windows 8 computer is like THE best for shaders, which is what I have. But it is probably the same high speed for some computers. I'm just making this thread to show you guys the real correct way to get it, and so you can take nice screenshots with it, or even do other stuff with it.

Level 45 : Master Architect105
Introduction
If you're wondering on how to drastically improve the quality of your screenshots and overcoming Minecraft's dull graphics, Shaders is a ideal solution to the problem. Not only does this mod allow smooth lightning, reflecting shadows, beautiful sunsets or other helpful effects but it is also compatible with a vast array of other mods or texture packs, and now I'm going to give you a quick demonstration on how to install it.
Notes
*Shaders is quite demanding and it will require a powerful computer with relatively good performance (Atleast Nivida or AMD graphic Cards) to render the textures. So if your computer isn't that beefy or has an Intel graphic Card, than it won't come to any effect.
*Cracked Versions won't run Shaders
How to install it?
1. Check the Graphics of your Mac computer
- Click on the Apple logo at the upper left corner of the screen and select 'About This Mac”
As I have an Intel HD 3000 384 MB graphic card on this MacBook Air, Shaders won't come to any effect.
However, this iMac will run Shader since it has a Nivida GeForce GTX 1024 MB graphic card.
2. Change your Security & Privacy settings to allow unrestricted downloads of applications
-Go to System Preferences and select Security & Privacy, which located in the upper right corner right to Language & Regions.
Then click on the lock, type the administrator name/password and select “Anywhere'.
If you have already finished this procedure earlier, proceed to step 3.
3. Download Shaders mod
- Go to This link and scroll down until you see a text saying 'Download links for GLSL Shaders Mod'. Click on the light green download link and skip the Adfly advertisment. Afterwards a warning notification will appear and select 'Keep, resulting in another notification popping up. Now, select 'open'.
4. Create a new Minecraft Profile
- As Shaders won't be compatible with anything up from 1.8.0 create a new profile on your Minecraft Launcher and select Version 1.8.0. Otherwise, Minecraft will automatically run the latest update which as of now is 1.8.8.
-Run the game to enable your new presets.
5. Run Shaders Mod Installer
-Click and the Shaders mod (.JAR) file you just downloaded and make sure to having Minecraft Launcher closed. A notification will then pop up and select 'Base Version 1.8'.
-Add '1.8-ShadersMod2.4.12' as your profile and run the game, now you have successfully installed Shaders Mod.
By selecting Options in game, the settings for Shaders should appear next to 'Languages'.
6. Download ShaderPacks
Shaders Packs are essential on creating the desired effects and without them you are only left with Minecraft's ordinary visuals. There are many types of packs to choose from but bear in mind that many of them require very powerful computer graphics, so if you don't have that of a power station at home, I don't recommend the Ultra or Extreme versions as it either will eventuate in lag or other issues.
How to download?
1. Download the Shader Pack
-By clicking the Download link, you will be redirected to an Adfly Advertisement. Skip it and you will then be redirected to a MediaFire link with the Shader Pack as a (-ZIP) file. Download the file and move it to your desktop.
2. Open the Minecraft Folder
-Type in this command '~/Library/Application Support/minecraft' in Spotlight and click enter.
3. Drag the Shader Pack into your Minecraft folder and enjoy!
- You can also create a Shaders folder to arrange all of the packs you have downloaded. In game, it should look similar to this:
